Elegant Kitchen Window Blinds
Kitchen Blinds
Finding the perfect kitchen window blind can be tricky. The blinds or shades need to look good, be easy to clean and be moisture resistant. Because kitchen cooking can cause a build-up of grease on kitchen window blinds, it’s important to use the right blinds and shades so they don’t need to be replaced every couple of years. The first tip to choosing Kitchen Window Blinds is to stay away from fabric materials. Fabrics absorb grease, making them difficult to clean. Fabrics also generally absorb odor, so in a couple of years window treatments might end up smelling like fried chicken or ragu sauce. Dusting can be hard with kitchen window blinds because dust sticks to grease, sometimes smearing the dirt.
For easy maintenance and good looks the top three kitchen window blinds are:

3. Chalet Composite Shutters. Composite shutters add a quaint touch to a kitchen, or any other room in the house for that matter. They are composed of American hardwood and polymer so they look like real wood. A bar helps tilt the shutter for privacy and light control. Made in the US, they are built within 15 business days. Don’t neglect decorating your kitchen because you aren’t sure what will work. Faux wood kitchen window blinds will look great in every kitchen. Throw out the old aluminum window treatments and bring faux wood into your home. They cost less than real wood but look just as good. The only person to know these aren’t real wood blinds will be you. What Are Kitchen Blinds
Kitchen Window Blinds are a specific type of window covering which is made with overlapping slats of fabric, wood, plastic or metal that adjust by rotating from an open position to a closed position. Kitchen Blinds are often made with moisture, mildew and sun resistant materials. Extra strong metal window blinds are often used outside of the house or business to protect against theft, temperature, vision, bad weather and fire (in fire-prone areas). Often these kitchen blinds are machine-operated, rather than hand operated.
The horizontal versions of Kitchen Blinds use a thin woven “ladder” system to suspend the slats and enable slats to be closed via a rotating drum to which each upper end of the woven ladder is wrapped and attached. A lift cord allows Blinds to be pulled up and stack tightly at the top of a window when desired for maximum light.
Types of Kitchen Blinds
The vertical version generally uses a wider slat and has the added feature of being able to pull a cord to stack the slats together; either to one side or to separate in the center and stack on each side. Vertical Kitchen Blinds allows rotation of slats by a rotating shaft in the upper head rail housing which runs through independent geared carriers that will convert twisting of tilt rail to a rotation of each individual slat in sync. The original vertical window blinds were invented in Kansas City, Mo by Edward Bopp and Fredrick Bopp who held the original patent. The company name at the time was Sun Vertical. In the 1960′s the patent and company was sold.
The term Window or Kitchen Blinds is also sometimes used, somewhat inaccurately, to describe window coverings generically – in this context window blinds include most every type of window covering ie. shutters, roller shades, roman shades and of course, vertical and horizontal Kitchen Blinds.
In the UK awnings are also considered to be blinds.
Kitchen Blinds Are Window Coverings
A blind limits observation and thus “blinds” the observer to the view. The two main types of window blinds are, slat blinds which can be opened in two ways, and solid blinds.
Solid Kitchen Blinds can only be raised or lowered and are often called Window Shades. There are a variety of types of blinds, such as Holland blinds and woven-wood blinds, where there are small spaces between the slats. In others such as pleated shades there are no spaces because the slats are sewn inside fabric.
Kitchen Blinds reduce the heat from sunlight. Ancient Egyptian pharaohs had blinds made of reeds. The least expensive blinds in the 1800’s were home-made roller shades, made of cloth.
Window Kitchen Blinds can be manually drawn using a cord, or automated through motorization. Controls for motorized blinds can be from a wall switch or keypad, remote control, or a personal computer, eliminating the need for cords and allowing control of windows that may otherwise be difficult to access.
Now with the latest technological advances there are some new types of window blinds, thanks to Louvolite Blinds there are now perfect fit roller and pleated blinds available.
Perfect fit Kitchen Blinds are the easiest window blinds to self fit at home, each one comes manufactured in a frame that simply snaps onto existing PVC frames in under 60 seconds.
